Bike Tour Around Mount Sh
Not many people think of Siskiyou County as a place for loaded cycle touring yet it has some of the nicest roads, least amount of traffic and great scenery of anywhere in North America and I am not kidding......  Take a look at 4 day tour I did that was about 300 miles long.  It could be broken up and rearranged differently though this route turned out well for a few reasons mentioned in the next pages.

After seeing Ray Jardine's blog on his transcontinental bike trip with one bag on his rear rack, I knew it was possible to cut down from the behemoth load taken on the Salt Lake to Jasper to Bellingham tour

About 50 lbs of bags and gear.                                                                Less one bag - pack weight                                                                                                                         low  30's.

My bike handled better with not one instance of shimmy or shake.  Much more fun on the downhills!
Day 1 was Mount Shasta to Trail Creek campground which is roughly half-way between Callahan and Cecilville.  Go to this page for more details and pictures.
Day 2 was from Trail Creek campground to Happy Camp.  See pictures and the story of these roads here.
Day 3 was Happy Camp to Indian Scotty campground – 47 miles.  My wife planned to meet me at Indian Scotty and camp tonight.  Pics and story....
Day 4 - The last day was scheduled to be Indian Scotty back to Mount Shasta - 67 miles.  The story is here.
